City Council unanimously adopted the Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Plan on July 20, 2023!
Thank you to the Woodland Park community, local partner agencies, and technical experts who have contributed to the Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Plan over the past year!
The draft plan reflects the guidance of the community as collected throughout the year-long planning process. The plan identifies specific recommendations for the next 10+ years of the City’s investment in parks, recreation, trails, and open space. Interested in a quick overview? The Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Woodland Park has recently completed a long-range planning process to create a bold vision for the future of the City’s parks, recreation, trails, and open space system! Over the past year, the Department has been working with a planning firm, Logan Simpson, to engage the community; evaluate existing conditions, challenges, and future opportunities; identify alternatives and solutions to current challenges; and ultimately, present a compelling vision and implementation plan for the next 10+ years of parks, recreation, trails, and open space.

This phase establishes the baseline of existing conditions through data collection, geographic information systems analysis, and on-site evaluations.

Define a shared future vision, goals, and policies to achieve the vision as identified by the community through initial public engagement.
Phase 3 - Alternatives and Priorities

After identifying the vision and goals, this phase will narrow our focus to prioritize specific actions and alternatives for parks, recreation facilities, open space, and trails,

This phase serves as the culmination of the process by compiling all data, vision, goals, policies, and prioritized recommendations into a visually compelling document. The draft plan will be circulated for public review and ultimately considered for adoption by the City Council.
