My second time back to WP - third time back to Colorado

by 76Olympian, almost 3 years ago
I like the small population of WP. I hate big cities.

WP has everything that we need locally...except a good steakhouse.

My house is in the trees which I love. The 8,400 ft altitude keeps us cooler in the summer and don't really need an expensive whole house air conditioner.

We have cleaner and dryer air than the big cities. I get to see Pikes Peak everyday which is always inspiring. Not to mention all my favorite hiking places are accessible without driving more than a half day.

Most of the people in WP/Teller County have a pioneer spirit rather... Continue reading

    Aquatic Center

by Janet M. , about 3 years ago
The Aquatic Center is a real gem in a beautiful city. I LOVE the center and attend classes 2-3 times per week. Can't wait until some of the restrictions due to COVID-19 are lifted and it can be more fully utilized.

Our Fabulous Aquatic Center and Library

by nancy stannard, over 3 years ago
After many years, Woodland Park residents got their Aquatic Center. It is a great facility that serves all segments of WP--kids, seniors, high school students and everyone that enjoys recreating in the water. We Coloradans love the outdoors, but there are times when the weather is harsh and working out indoors is a welcome alternative. The classes are especially good. The staff is helpful, friendly and the teachers are well-trained and enthusiastic.

My other fav is our Library. That beautiful building houses so much knowledge, entertainment and community activity--it is a hub for our town. There are many patrons with... Continue reading

I should have moved to WP years ago!

by YogurtGirl, over 3 years ago
My husband, Craig and I (Carolyn) moved here about 5 years ago. My work was based in Los Angles, now Dallas/Houston and I work from home. My husband worked at the jail as the kitchen manager. He saw an opportunity and bought the yogurt shop - Mountain View Yogurt Plus. Our business is good but could be better. We have great food, panini's, cheesesteaks, fries and fried green beans and our famous hot dogs.

I love the community, small and helpful. I joined the Ute Pass Social Club 3 years ago and all the women are fantastic. Business owners are... Continue reading

    Base Camp!

by TButtery, over 3 years ago
The Chamber of Commerce a few years ago had a phrase they used about WP and it was "Base Camp". That resonated with me and it's one of the aspects of WP that I just love. The concept is that it's a great place to live because of all of the amenities and activities so close by: small town close to a larger city close to an even larger city; literally millions of acres of hiking/biking/ATV-ing within minutes of my home or office; gold medal fishing and world class skiing within 1/2-2 hours away; small businesses that aim to please... Love the Aquatic Center

by Shannon Andersen, over 3 years ago
I have 11 year old twin boys and they love to go to the Aquatic Center. It was challenging during 2020, and my boys were excited when the pool opened back up! Even though some of the facility is not quite open, the employees were smiling and answering questions. Last weekend, the slide opened back up and I hear the diving board will soon be opening back up. Boys can not wait to come back and use the diving board. Thank you City of Woodland Park for overcoming challenges and opening up the Aquatic Center! Families are enjoying themselves, the... Continue reading

    Love the mountain town!

by Gayle/SOAR, over 3 years ago

Woodland Park has so many reasons to be loved. There's Pikes Peak at our doorstep and when people get together there's always an experience to remember. I've lived in other places but have never found the camaraderie that resides here. Maybe it's the small town and people knowing your name but even on days when I'm not seeing someone I know there's a feeling of peace. It's the BEST place to hike from, ride a bike around for true exercise, and to be involved in an event. Why? Because people planning activities put their energy into making everything the best... What WP Means to Me

by woodlandfitness, over 3 years ago
Our family moved here 9 years ago and became local business owners a little over 2 years ago, Woodland Fitness Center! Coming from a small town to WP was an easy transition seeing it is still a smaller community but with great amenities. We found great jobs, my wife is a nurse and I am in recreation, we found a great church, we made fast friends that have become family and we have seen our family grow! We have 2 wonderful children and 2 awesome dogs. WP is a great place to put down roots and we know this is... Continue reading
